Introduction to Sculpture

AGO

In this course, students will work with clay to study of the human form. They will develop skills of observation and proportion, while working with a life model. In addition to skill development, contemporary and historical approaches to figurative sculpture will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to develop traditional life sculpture techniques within the classroom environment, while being encouraged to find their personal artistic voice as they interpret the figure through observation, stylization and abstraction.

PRIVATE SCULPTURE COURSES

West End, Toronto

Jim Hake offers private lessons to select students.   Courses are taught in the artist's private studio. Classes are small with a strong focus on person projects.  All aspects of sculpture, ceramics and three-dimensional design are open for exploration.

Sculpture Explorations: Portraits

AGO

In this course students will work with clay as they study the human form. Closely guided by instruction, and working with a life model, students will develop skills of observation and proportion as they work toward a portrait in clay. In addition to skill development, contemporary and historical approaches to portraiture will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to develop traditional sculpture techniques within the classroom environment, while being encouraged to find their personal artistic voice.
